FAITH FORMATION

Faith formation is the lifelong process by which all Catholics grow closer to God and strengthen their relationship with Him.  Through the ministries of faith formation, the faithful are given the opportunity to grow in their knowledge of the faith and to deepen their spiritual life as they walk on their journey of faith.

Religious Education (CCD)

The mission of the Religious Education Program of St. Kevin Catholic Church is to assist the parents, the primary catechists, in providing continuous religious formation in the Catholic faith for their children who attend public or non-Catholic private schools.  In the process, our goal is to evangelize the entire family in order to make them active members in our community of faith, centering their lives around Christ and His teachings.

The Religious Education Program provides religious formation in the Catholic faith for the children of our parish.  Children are also prepared for the celebration of the sacraments.  The program runs with the school year, from September to May.

SERVE AS A CATECHIST

We invite all adults in our community to volunteer as a catechist in our Religious Education Program.  As a catechist, you will have the opportunity to respond Christ's call to go and spread his Good News by helping our children and youth learn and grow in faith as they come to encounter Christ in their lives.  All that is needed is a willingness to collaborate and to work together in spending time with our children and youth, sharing the love of God with them, and sharing our common faith together.

If you are interested in serving as a catechist, please contact the Religious Education Office

Youth Group

St. Kevin's Youth Group is a ministry for young people ages 12 to 18 to discuss matters of the faith and participate in fun faith activities with their peers.

After students celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation through our Religious Education Program, they are invited to participate in the Youth Group as a way to continue nurturing their faith and to come to deepen their relationship with Christ.

The Youth Group meets during the school year on Fridays at 7:00 pm at the Parish Hall.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults  (RCIA)

"RCIA" stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.  It is the process by which an adult person can receive any or all of the initiation sacraments: Baptism, Confirmation, and First Holy Communion.  RCIA is also the way for someone to enter and be initiated into the Catholic Church.

The RCIA classes also afford an opportunity to learn more about the Catholic faith and to become involved in the parish community.

For more information, please see the RCIA page.
